FAQS
Yes, the subject of ENGL is unsurprisingly flexible in is structure in comparison to other subjects. All three curricular of NCEA, Cambridge, and IB tests analysis and essay writing on poetry, prose, drama, and unseen texts, expecting students by the end of year 11 to be familiar with at least two poems, two proses, two drama plays, and the ability to analyse short unseen texts within the first three years of high school.
Yes, we use an interactive classroom style to prevent distractions. Students are required to have open webcams and engage in interactive teaching throughout the class. Not only are the classes focused on engaging with the texts and teacher, but this method helps student develop the skill of how to learn.
This approach has worked for me without having someone to guide me through it. To ensure it works for your child, the classes and coursework will be highly personalised, featuring weekly homework, feedbacks, and monthly student reports to help parents and students keep track of progress.
While specific quotes from texts might be forgotten after exams, students obtain the guide to achieving top marks in high school in less than two school terms. They learn the underlying frameworks of English literature, critical analysis, essay structure, and writing. These skills of learning, analysing, and critical thinking carry on with them unto year 12 & 13 (and for the rest of their lives) and are applicable across all subjects and fields of study.
For non-STEM subjects, nobody is born “bad” at them, it is just a matter of how much of that skill has been developed. Students often just haven’t connected the necessary skills together yet, and learning with a good teacher helps bridge that gap. With the opportunity, why not start improving today?
Like everyone, students are spending all 24 hours of every single day, the difference is where. Whether that is in studying, reading, video games, or doom-scrolling. This course replaces inefficient, panicked study habits with highly efficient, guided study. I believe, what takes up more time is an inefficiently method in learning ENGL, and the consequences of not achieving the grades needed for university entrance.
Thanks to interactive classes and regular homework, the teacher is aware of a student’s progress before the next class even begins. Because ENGL is highly subjective and flexible, not understanding a specific piece of content is completely fine. There is no true “falling behind” in ENGL class; the only way to fall behind is doing nothing to move closer to your goal.
For parents, no more effort, time, and energy will be required after enrolment, as the teacher will assume full responsibility for your child in this subject.
For students, if your goal is to get from current grades to desired grades in English, then effort is required. If you are going to reach that goal eventually, it makes sense to put in the effort now and do it in an efficient and structured way. Personally for me, I prefer the ‘pain’ of putting in the effort now, than the real pain of regret later.
Yes, I understand that things come up throughout the school term that may take higher priority. If you wish to unenrol from the course, you may do so by the deadline of the Sunday of the end of the second week of classes, you will be refunded the full amount of tuition you have paid. Besides the guarantee, refunds for the course after the deadline are not possible.
There are no individual refunds for missing class(es).
Yes, term 3 holidays is the most crucial time for students to prepare for end of year examinations. Among students, term 3 holidays is known as the final sprint for exams. For seniors Y11-13s, exams begin as early as the first week into term 4. So for the best of the students, the classes will run through the term 3 holidays.
