Inspired by the legendary commander and strategist ZhuGe Liang from the Three Kingdoms period in ancient Chinese history, whose strategic prowess and virtues can only be rivalled by a few across five thousand years of Chinese history, and whose stories of 草船借箭, 舌战群儒,七擒七纵, 空城计, 挥泪斩马谡, 鞠躬尽瘁 and writing of 出师表, 戒子书 have become deeply ingrained in today’s Chinese culture and language.

Known and respected by all Chinese people, ZhuGe Liang is also regarded by the title WoLong (卧龙), meaning “resting dragon” and known by his courtesy name Mr KongMing (孔明), meaning “greatly bright”. KongMing’s story from a humble origin growing up in a straw hut, day and night studying the ancient literature and tome of Chinese history, philosophy, astrology, and military strategy to the commanding general and chief strategist of the Shu Kingdom, whose stories and legacies continue to echo through generations and generations.
Like ZhuGe Liang, his title as the “resting dragon” tells too of the precious potential that all young people, yet most regrettably, I believe nothing in this world is more wasted than potential. And this is why I choose to found KongMing Educations, because all students have that resting dragon-like potential within them, and sometimes, it just takes a little help to activate them to shine greatly and brightly as their own unique versions of KongMing.

I have always wished that my younger self had today’s Ethan to tutor and mentor him, then I would’ve crushed all my peers! The bad news is that parallel universe does not exist (or not yet), but the good news is that all the high school students are my “younger self” today.
My only goal for KongMing Educations is simple: it’s about using my personal excellence and academic prowess to benefit the next generation of students, it’s about passing the invaluable skills and experiences I have paid a price for and obtained in my journey to academic excellence onto to next generations of fledgling scholars.
